Mysteryland was first organized in 1993 near Lelystad. Over the years, it moved between several locations before settling permanently in Haarlemmermeer in 2003. The festival has since become one of the flagship events of the Dutch electronic music scene, inspiring other major festivals such as Tomorrowland.
The festival features more than twenty stages, showcasing a wide range of electronic music styles, from mainstream EDM to underground techno. Spectacular installations, art pieces, and themed stages shape the experience, blending music with visual arts and live performances.
Mysteryland places strong emphasis on environmental responsibility. The festival uses renewable energy sources, promotes waste reduction, and collaborates with local communities, making it one of the more environmentally conscious festivals in Europe.
In 2015 and 2016, a U.S. edition called Mysteryland USA was held at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts in Bethel, New York — the historic site of the legendary Woodstock Festival. Although the American version was short-lived, it helped expand the global recognition of the Mysteryland brand.
